CHRISTMAS IN PUNE (INDIA)

I thought that Christmas was celebrated only in western countries. In India where I am at the moment, I had to change my mind about that. In Pune, the streets and many trees are dressed with lights and decorations, and at the entrance of a gate I could see two big portraits of Jesus. Walking in the streets, I arrived at Phoenix Mall. At the entrance there was a very big and beautiful Christmas tree. The mall swarmed with people who were celebrating this holy day.
Christmas seems to go beyond its religious meaning and take the features of ritual or custom that involves the entire world. Does Christmas have a religious meaning as well? I am inclined to say yes. I could see portraits of Jesus in the streets, and it means that people believe in Him and His message. Maybe really some day Jesus’ Gospel, love will go into the hearts of all the people up to the borders of the earth”.
